Today as I celebrate my birthday, another chapter in my life, I was reflecting on all the things that I have yet unfinished.

Wondering why do I even try to make a difference, everyday someone is always complaining. I hear

" I NEED A TOWEL" ,

"AWW NOT THAT AGAIN FOR SUPPER",

"HE'S YOUR BABY YOU LOVE HIM MORE".

Its OK, because if they just grow up to be responsible, God fearing adults, then I did my job!

Now as far as my OCD husband....pray for me. LOL

If you read my blog you will know I am not one to express my religious or political views, but a friend sent this to me on Face Book and I just had to share, because the message just touched me.
I know I can not be the only one who wonders,
"Just what is my calling?" It might have been here all the time.

A wonderful company in New Orleans offers a lighting design service.

This is one of the many beautiful projects they have done.

Their copper lighting is custom made right in their own shop.

Their custom lights grace many of the businesses and homes of New Orleans.

I wish that I had a place that would require these beauties.

No Storms...

Just updating the house...

New windows that took four months...Lowes and there contractors had to order the windows three times!

Nothing like having them bust out a window, to realize they ordered the wrong sizes!

Not going to bore you with the details...lets just say I was grateful for the dry weather we were having.

Well what do you do when the window installers mess up the vinyl?

Perfect time to pull it off and have stucco added.

We live on a busy street...talk about the calls and people stopping to see what we were up to.

Asked Mr. Stucco Man if I could take his picture...he wanted to model for me...HAHA

Progress was very slow...

Will post the finished pictures tomorrow.

YEAH we have rain this morning and cooler temps on the way. Its been very dry and in the 80's.

I feel like the little girl in the fable

Goldie Locks and the Three Bears...

I have to find the window covering that is just right..

This window has been naked since the kitchen remodel and Camo Man does not want to put the Plantation Shutters back up. (he does not want to drill in the tile).

So I searched......and searched...

Blue is my favorite color!

WoW ....I like that one, but just not right.

This black is a very safe color, and looks fabulous with the granite. The pattern is great!

But naww, still not just right.

This is a swatch from the a local design store....steel gray on natural lien, love it!

But at 28.99 a yard a little out of budget. (By the way the designer told me gray is going to be the next BIG design color, but we already know that because Susie painted her kitchen cabinets that a few months back!)

Cost..... out of my budget...Not just right!

Hobby Lobby....Love this bought two yards on sale, thought I found the one.

Well the flowers were just not right for the kitchen.

Again, Not right....

Ok...time to get serious...this is the same pattern as the black (photo at top). Like the color...love the pattern, no flowers, not overly busy.

I think this WILL work....Yes, JUST RIGHT!

I have them all sewn together so check back to see how it turns out, Camo Man will be hanging them tonight.

POP CORN ACT

Oh Halloween ...

that one little word screams fall is on its way with cooler temps. You see here in the south fall does not arrive till after Oct. But leave it to dear Susie to show up at my door with a challenge.

She came sharing her pop corn balls and wanting me to post how I would display them.

Then off she went..

Well here is my version of decorated ACT Popcorn Balls.

I put them in clear bags and tied them with purple netting, then I cut the extra top of the bag off with zig zag scissors.
Don't they just add a little "POP" to my table?

See the feather, I found it in the yard.Camo Man asked what in the world I was going to do with it...Well there it is with my little bird Susie gave me.

In the picture below is a little card that I picked up to add to add a little glitz to the look.

That was so much fun.

Ok Susie...I am up for another challenge...

Craft Room Confession

Am I the only one? Can there be anyone else like me?

Am I the only one that their house is perfect?
EXCEPT... only come up the stairs to my messy little secret...

As I came up my stairs this morning to my little craft space, I reflected on how in the world did it ever get to this?

I started out with a little sewing table in the utitlity room with one small shelf. Now so many unfinished projects and unorganization.

I would love to blame the internet, blogs and etsy. I see all these wonderful blog post (sisters included), people making money on esty and say I can do that.

I start making one thing, see something else and jump to that. Because I spend a dollar here and a dollar there I do not see how much I have spent. But I yet have not made a dollar.

I have thread... I have a sewing machine and a monograming machine, I also have a friend who wants to come over and see my machine.

NO WAY ! I am to embarrassed for her to see all this stuff.

This quilt that I started for my son, I think he was nine. He is now seventeen.

Can't blame that on internet...HAHA

(I am laughing, because if I cry, I will have to go downstairs for kleenex)

I have flowers that I may need for a wreath...yeah right

Lookie there is a part to my machine..

There also is one of many totes I made, ended up giving most of them away.

Totes my sister wanted me to monogram

Overwhelmed...yes I am.

Yarn from my grandmother (two small balls) what am I gonna do with that?

She knows just how many miles to push me after I complain of IBS.

And I am fine when we have to shop till we find that perfect thing and then figure how the heck we are gonna get it home.

Heck who can you show up for a party and realize that we dressed almost identical? She was not even mad. We laugh at how much we are alike. I never told her, but I secretly wished we were twins. I love it when people ask us that. (and not because I am two years older HAHA).

Even though we only live five miles away from each other with husbands, kids and even our dogs we can never visit enough.

On the open road we share our childhood memories, even though I told the same story two trips before.

Love it how she let me play on my I Phone all night with the bathroom light on. It will be ok this time I think the newness has worn off now.

She has to bring her own blankets and how I can't let my bare feet touch the hotel floor.

Now we request extra towels before we even get to the room. Yes, I am the towel hog.

I love the way that we can even talk with our eyes..

I can get a little chatty and she can give me that look that says "Let's move on!"

The crazy day she supported me in my attempt to make a King Cake

Oh and when on a trip I have to be able to split that huge stuffed potato, or better yet, be able to take a sip of her Sonic Route 44 when I am choking on chips.

Our road trips give us the time we need, even though as we get closer to returning home I notice we talk even faster to get everything in...

Yea...looks like in Sept. I will be heading back to Round Top for another girls adventure...

Thanks for joining me for the rest of my New Orleans weekend...Nothing beats the heat and sore feet than a buggy ride. This is a great way to learn so much about the city.

Moving on...

Religion & Politics...those are two subjects my maw maw always told me southern ladies never discuss.

Although no matter what religion you may follow or if any at all, the St. Louis Cathedral is a must on the

"TO DO LIST" for everyone visiting NOLA.

Out on the square things are crowded, loud and usually hot and humid. Slip in the massive cathedral doors and you are tansformed to a very peaceful place.

The Cathedral played a very big part in New Orleans history. It was founded in 1718 and established as a parish in 1720.

Give yourself a moment to adjust from the being out on the square, if you have time take a moment and reflect. We arrived just in time to attend the Saturday evening mass, so out of respect for the parishioners in the church I was unable to get more photos.

Mary's crown is absolutely beautiful, the way the lighting shines on it makes it look so grand.

BAM...how about a little bite to eat, yes we are catchin a taxi and going to none other than Emeril's

I left my camera at the hotel, so this is a googled pic. We had a slight problem getting there. Refer to TRIP TIP #2

Yes, I ate a piggy's cheeks...gosh they were good. But Emeril can cook anything and make it taste good.We feasted on so much we opted to walk back to the hotel. I am not one to just walk around late at night in a big city, but I was not scared once. It actually was a nice night to take a walk after all of the eating we had done.

We stayed at the luxury hotel The Roosevelt. It was just one block from the French Quarter.

The pool area is great, but we did not take advantage of it this trip. Also worth mentioning we sat in the panio bar at Pat O'Briens , had dinner Fri. night at Commanders Palace and a snack of beignets at Cafe Du Monde.

TRIP TIP #2 Very Important..When going out to eat in a big city have the EXACT address for the taxi driver! We had reservations, but I did my research and wanted to arrive early to have drinks during happy hour in the lounge. When Camo Man came to the table with my Cosmo, he leaned in and softly said

"Two drinks were $18.00, I thought it was happy hour?" Well the taxi driver dropped us at the wrong Emeril's. We hailed another taxi (another tip) and headed off to the other Emeril's.

Ahhh the "Big Easy", Creasent City, NOLA whatever you want to call it New Orleans is the perfect weekend get away.

Camo Man and I traveled down south to New Orleans for our anniversary. The best time to experience this romantic city is in March. The weather was wonderful and the street crowds were small.

Even if you are not looking, there is so much to see and experience. We walked right into this...

The Oyster Jubilee happening on one block.

Different local restaurants (there are many) were showcasing their talents on preparing oyster poboys.

These sweet petite ladies were gracious enough to let me take their picture while they passed out beignets. Now come on y'all in what city can you go and beignets are being passed out on the street?

Look very closely can you see it? The french bread. One city block long..They were making the worlds largest poboy and we got to witness it.

Oh the smooth sound of Jazz, Camo Man stood and listened to this street band, while he was being entertained I went into a few shops to do a little shopping.

What a sight to behold, this balcony was so calm and quite while on the street below was filled with hustle and bustle (Well to be honest mostly Hustler, Larry Flints Hustler Club) Warning...parts of New Orleans are not for everyone.

The only draw back to all this beauty... is the darn HUMIDITY. Gosh look at that hair. I had it straighted like a board, but by lunch I look like .... well there is a saying about a horse! (E-mail me if you need the rest of that saying, cause not sure if it is just a southern one)

TRIP TIP #1...Please travelers ask someone to take your photo...

I offer if I see a couple trying to get a photo, Camo Man says I am intruding. I think they will appreciate it when they get home and look back at the memory.

This is our only picture and of course we took it our self. Not very flattering..straight up the nose!

Unexpected Bliss

What unexpected joy I had when this spring we came up the hill at the camp to see this....

Wow I was just so shocked and I do believe Camo Man was too, even though he acted like it was no big deal. He had planted clover for the winter in the pasture by the house. We always have it chopped under before the spring, but unfortunately this year we were unable to get it done.

Last year I had Camo Man plant two acres of sunflowers, only to have the deer munch them up before they were two inches high. Can you just imagine my shock that this was here. Our Chocolate Lab loved running through and chasing the rabbits.

The bees were so busy... I convinced Camo Man to wait a couple weeks and let the bees finish their spring gathering.

Here is R.T. (my goat from the last trip to Round Top,TX) he was even coordinating with my pasture of red clover.

This was such a nice surprise to see, that I think we will let the clover go to bloom every spring, just hope to get some bee boxes set up in time. If anyone has any tips on bee boxes, please share...

My Back Yard Water Feature

Muddy Mess is the caption for this water feature. Pictured is the fountain that I purchased a few years ago. After years of growth and numerous hurricanes the landscape needed replacing. While on that project Camo Man decided to go ahead and incorporate the fountain into the landscape.

On day one, after having DOTTIE mark all the underground lines, the first shovel in the ground hits a gas line. That was a scary moment until we were told it has an automatic shut off.

As you can see on day two the rains came....

I believe it rained two weeks straight! In between the rains, Camo Man added a water line to the fountain so it will be easy to refill. The winds blow alot of the water out. We are going to paint the pipe black so it is not so noticeable.

We then added a watering system, crushed stone for the path ways, and a few plants. The weather has not wanted to cooperate for photos, I have enjoyed sharing my water feature with you during this hot summer season.

Cool Water Features In The Heat of Summer

In this July heat one can only dream of hearing the trickle of water to transform you into a cooler place. A few weeks ago Susie susieharris.blogspot.com and I took a ride to see a few open houses including the Southern Living Show Home. Of course as southern Louisiana weather goes it was hot and humid. Oh, but the moment I heard this water feature located in this courtyard I cooled off.

It is a show stopper.

Those three doors ahead lead into the luxury master bedroom.

The beautiful blue tile lured me over to the side, but due to the fact I am over forty and there were bystanders I did not take the opportunity to stick my feet in. Rest assured in the heat that we have I am sure a few kiddies have fallen prey to these enticing waters.

As Susie and I drove through this tour of homes we arrived at the beautiful Southern Living Home.

Located in the back of this massive home is this wonderful porch.

While Susie was looking and wondering what paint color they used on the porch, I wondered, but did not ask, if they left those dishes out there all the time, or if they set this table everyday for the show?

Only a few steps away and you arrive at this little water feature, I believe any of you could easily make this on your patio or in an area of the yard. It is perfect for someone with a small space, or even if you have a large yard and want to add a focal point. With such a fabouls home and so much eye to detail in the interior I was a tad disappointed in the patio area. (but you all know I love the outdoors).

The fireplace to the left is equally as beautiful, but that will have to be a topic for the fall.

This refreshing water feature is located to the right side of the home. The feature is made from a sugar kettle. These are really popular in the south. Southerners were re purposing items long before that term was even around! I love the design of the pavers, what do you think?

Try to stay cool, but if your water feature is just not enough, there is always this type!

Hello...anyone there? I've been like Snoopy...a little relax on the posting and mail. I'm still here just had lots of drama...,gosh I hate that word....I've had lots of changes. After much thought, I left my job. I loved my work, but felt as though I was needed on the home front. Even after the weekends so many things were still left undone. I just knew it was time to close that door in my life and devote myself to my family.
Everyone thought I was crazy to leave such a great job, but I had this tugging on me that it was time to go.
Well after being home two weeks. (spent one at our camp trying to think things over) my daughter was involved in a golf cart accident. Most of her injuries were sustained to her right side. She has a broken ankle that required surgery. I have literally taken care of her every need. We had to move her back home and fix her a place in our living room ( no way to get her upstairs). I will have to drive her fifty miles to school everyday for her to finish her summer college courses. Call me crazy (my husband said that it is just worked out that way) but now I know what that tugging at my soul was all about.
Have you ever made a questionable decision and some how it is all clear now?

Food Can Be Your Next Adventure

I love adventure, well my parents always told us "Try It You Might Like It ". It was actually about the only thing I think they have ever agreed on. If you have followed my blog for a while you know I am a love to try different things including different foods.

The guys were out of town so I was able to spend quality time with Brit. I let her choose the place she wanted to eat. Of course she could not just let me order her pizza, or drive~ thur for a happy meal. I have only had sushi on a cruise and I did not care for it. Brit said that did not count. So I was up to trying it again.
Oh well here it is to adventure... Ichiban

I asked for the silverware, none to be found...ok I would experience the whole adventure. Yes, you can have an adventure in enjoying food.

Started with edanomi. I thought you eat the whole thing, even our children can teach us a thing or two if we just let them. Brit set me straight on the proper way to eat these little green jewels.

Even if you so not eat sushi you have to admit it is artwork. Mine was a Bayou Roll, which included a softshell crab. It was wonderfull, I think I have found a new love for sushi...Have you tried anything new lately? Please share, you never know it may just be my next adventure.

And The Snowbells Live On...

My maw maw (southern lingo for grandmother) had two green thumbs. This sweet little lady (she weighed 90 pounds) would go to visit with a friend, they would give her a little broken piece of any plant you could image and she could get it just grow into the most beautiful plant. Then she would share with others. When I was little, my sister and I would literally rip all of her roses off the bushes to make our "rose water". She would never say a word. When she passed away (100 yrs old) her house was sold and moved, but before the movers tore her yard apart I went and dug a small clump of snowbells.

Camo Man with his OCD behavior (never formally dignosed) decided to take it upon himself while I was out of town to tear out the landscape. He tilled up every inch of the flower beds. He even tore out the trees!

I was so upset. I could not believe what he had done. Of course he thought I would love it that we were going to new landscape in the spring. The first thing I wanted to know was where my snowbells were. He looked at me and said
"What are snowbells?"
....Jump ahead about six months, this weekend I opened the shade in the laundry room and low and behold there were mawmaws little snowbells ...

What a sight to behold! I know as I stood there laughing and crying, mawmaw was smiling down on me!

Last night after work I went with a friend to the newest thing to hit town. Corks and Canvas, a new business that is artistic painting as entertainment. They provided the canvas,paint,and brushes and a local artist to guide us along. You bring your wine or beverage of chioce and snacks.

I was so nervous to get started. I had not painted since I finger painted in first grade.

Yes, that is supossed to be my nervous face. Looks more scary than nervous...

If you get a chance to attend one of these in your town do it. After you brush the first few storkes, it becomes so relaxing.

Brittany brought me back some religious medals from the Vatican from her summer in Italy.

Saint Michael for my son, Saint Francis because of my love for animals and two others that I am unsure of because they are stamped in Italian.

I wanted to add them on a little chain with some other charms. I love that look and it is so popular.

I found a cute charm with my initial and of course I had to have the really ornate fleur de lis. The sales lady wanted me to add them on a pearl necklace, but wearing scrubs everyday I really was not sure about the look of pearls. I think the silver chain looks good. What do you think?

Now all I want is to go back and catch the cute bee charm,I did not get it today because I needed a little money to treat Britt to lunch. She did share this great little shop with me.

Where Women Create...Love it.

ADDICTION problem #1 ~ Some of you know how much I love my magazines. Yes,I am addicted. This is my newest high, Where Women Create. The cover was tempting me with the beatuiful studio of Gina Galvin. The checkout clerk looked at me as if I had lost it. Who spends $14.99 on a magazine? She never said a word,but ladies you know the look those clerks can give you. I politely told her in my sweet southern drawl,"I don't drink or smoke so I deserve this magazine." She still never uttered a word, a blank stare. Then as I dug out the money I thought, 'I don't have to defend myself to this unaddicted person. Besides she should not judge,she probably gets to look at it for FREE on her break!'

ADDICTION problem #2 ~ I purchased it on my lunch hour, big mistake. When a magazine addicted person gets their hands on a new issue they have to flipp through ALL the pages.I barely made it into the parking lot at work. Usually I start flippin at the red lights, but there was extremely heavy traffic. Well you all know what happened next. The sun was shining, it was toasty sittin in that car. I flipped very slowly through every beautiful page (did not have time to read). I glanced up at the clock...OH SHIT...very carefully put the magazine down as not to bend a single page or heavens forbid the covers. Then I was off like a mad woman. I work at a medical facility and I was running like it was a code blue. This was really not a cool thing to do, but when you are addicted you can't help yourself. I clocked in with one minute to spare.

Saints Sunday

WHO DAT !! GOOOO Saints. I have never really watched football. Year after year we go to parties or host them. I am the one who runs in just to see the commericals. This year will be different. The Saints are playing. The mood in Louisiana right now is exhilarating. I have never seen anything like this, not even Mardi Gras equals this. There is literally a tent (even out in the little country areas) on every corner selling tshirts, flags, hats. We will be having Susie and her family over for a little football fun. Will post either happy or sad faces after the game.

Oh and yes, I can get Camo Man outta camo clothes and even shave every now and then...

A little spring for $1.25

The weekend after Christmas I went to Wal Mart to see if there was anything left in the clearance Christmas section. I found these little paper white bulbs for $1.25. Even thought the season was over I could not just leave them on that cold lonely shelf with leftover twinkle lights and the five foot white trees no one wanted. I am sad to say I saved them from that lonely shelf to only leave them in the trunk of my car for another week. After saving them a second time, I could not put them in that ugly plastic green pot. They had be so miss treated.
I planted them in this really pretty pot that I had gotten at Lows. Look how pretty. But of course with every pretty thing, there comes a little stink. When I got home from work yesterday my son met me at the back door. He wanted me to smell something that was stinkin up the kitchen. I smelled it and right away knew it was my paper whites. He wanted me to throw them outside. This is terrible but I made him live with the strong odor until I could take some pics. to share with ya'll. Those poor little bulbs did not look like they would make it at first. But they started to thrive the kitchen window.

Guess tomorrow they will just have to head out to the back porch.

Thought I would share a few of my pictures that I took at the camp last spring. Saturday at the camp it was 34 degrees and misty rain. I woke up and plopped back down on the sofa to watch t.v. with Camo Man all day. I only got up to heat some delicious chicken gumbo and cook biscuits.
Everyone needs to spend a day relaxing like that every now and then. Have you had a day like that lately?

I am so wishing for warmer days. But I guess I should enjoy the weather I am given...I know our temps are warm, some of you are snowed and iced in.

When it is 105 degrees I will be posting winter pictures and wishing for cooler days. Hope you enjoy my little remembrance of 2009 spring.

Here is to First..My King Cake, Saints, and a Video

This has been a weekend of first around here. I am so excited to write this post on my first King Cake and my first video. The game has just ended and the SAINTS are going to the Super Bowl another fantastic first.

Making a King Cake took more work than I thought. If you can, it would be easier to purchase one at a nearby bakery. If you would like the recipe just let me know in the comments and I will get it to you. I used two recipes to make up my own so I don't have it written down yet. This will just highlight of the crazy moments I had with Susie and include a few steps in the process.

Mix the sour cream, sugar,salt and butter. Let cool
Eggs, yeast, and bread flour.
Mix together...

The dough rising, guess I got the yeast part right. The best place I found was the dryer... I also threw a load of clothes in the wash while I was in there.

Rolled it out, added the filling ....funny 42 second video of that! I did not realize she was really making a video so I have to show it cause if not sista will on her blog, and she has way too many critics than me. I hope it makes you laugh as much as it made us.

As you can tell in the video, I will never get a job with Food Net Work or after licking the container of filling I would not be allowed to work anywhere there is food!
I also know I have bread flour all over my breast. That's cuz I am short and work very close to the counter.

PLEASE NOTE I DID NOT MAKE THE FILLING and WHAT WAS LEFT WAS THROWN AWAY AFTER SUSIE LICKED IT TOO !!!

After that video if you can stomach anymore of this, you need to roll your cake jelly style and form a ring.

It has to rise again....

I finally got Susie in front of the camera. I wanted ya'll to know she really was here. The two handles of the refrigerator look like my little horns.

You will bake it for about 20 min. the add a glaze and colored sugar.

Look at that sweet baby...literally it is laying in a ton of colored sugar.

King Cake...causes weight gain

King Cake, ya gotta love 'em. In south Louisiana we take King Cake season very seriously. Even to the point of arguing about what bakery makes the best. This weekend I will try my hand at making one of these wondrous concoctions and will take pictures to share with you. Who knows I could be the next award winning King Cake baker. (People I have NEVER used yeast in my life!) I can assure you this will most likely be humours.

The tradition was brought to the area by colonists from France and Spain. King cake parties in New Orleans are documented back to the eighteenth century.
The king cake comes in a number of styles. The most simple is a ring of twisted bread, similar to a giant cinnamon roll topped with icing or sugar, usually colored purple, green, and gold (the traditional Carnival colors) with food coloring. Some varieties have filling inside, the most common being cream cheese followed by praline. My favorite is the oh so yummy strawberry creamcheese..
It has become customary in the southern culture that whoever finds the baby must provide the next king cake. This is always fun to do at work, although you hope you don't find the baby twice because it can become expensive. Small cakes can start at $14.95 and be as expensive as $60.00 not including shipping.

As you know ladies we have the option to change our minds, but right now these are a few of the things I am lovin right now.

All I need to say is Hangover's hunkie, BRADLEY COOPER is sooo HOT.

In the South I can't make it with out a PRALINE KING CAKE before lent, well a few of them and even a Stawberry one too.
Then I have this contraption to help me lose all that King Cake, Santa brought me this. It is really a cool contraption (don't know the name for it) that holds my bike so I can just pedal away in one place.

And of course I can not live without my smell good. A little COCO goes along way.

I get so many complements when I wear it.

Oh Christmas Tree

Can you believe my tree is still up on Jan. 6th? But today is the day it is coming down, even if I have to stay up till midnight. Maybe after work tomorrow the tree in the kitchen will find its new home in a closet....Camo Man told me not to stress over it. He wanted me to go to Hobby Lobby and get Mardi Gras decor. and make it a Mardi Gras tree. That was sweet, but I am ready to get on with my new year. It is like spring cleaning when I take down the tree, even though a record cold front is well on its way here in the South. When you take down your tree do you start on a cleaning spree, or do you just throw it all back in a box and stuff it in the closet till next year?

Lesson Learned in the Simplest Place

I love to walk in the woods, just taking in nature. Searching for any little sign of anything new that I did not see the last time I walked on that particular path. After seeing deer tracks and signs of deer passing through an area, I begged Camo Man to let me return later to sit in his deer stand with my camera. That afternoon I nagged him until he took me back to this stand. The stand is placed in a tall pine with a homemade latter that is chained to the tree. How excited I was as I started to climb. The anticipation of the great photos that I would surely take. Photos of the buck that I had never been seen before except on a hunting camera.

I was on my way to the top when to my horror my foot slipped. My heart beating so fast I looked to see where to place my foot next. All of a sudden I feel this comforting hand with light pressure on my butt. Camo Man stating "I am right here, it is ok go on you only have two steps left." Poor guy, I almost stepped on all his fingers and head as I descended. I just could not get down fast enough. I climbed down and apologized that I nagged him all day and now could not make it to the top of the stand. He was so patient and wanted me to try again with encouraging words. I just could not climb back up that tree.
So time was ticking and he needed to get to his stand. He wanted me to just sit with him, but I knew that would not work.

Next best thing... I just sat next to this pine for four hours.
This was the view looking down the ridge where I was sitting on just my butt. If only I would have known I was scared to climb trees.

There I sat with my book, camera and the big bug that thought my neck was warmer that the bark on the pine.

Oh the moon, what a welcome sight. It meant that in moments Camo Man would be back to find me waiting to get back to the camp to warm up.

Sitting there was not a waste. What did I learn? The lesson is how I should watch out what I long for, even nag for, cause after given the opportunity being at the top just may not be the right thing for me. And I did not know that cute little squirrels could screech so much. Try to find a the bigger meaning in even the smallest lesson.

New Year

Ready or not here comes a New Year. Funny how it just sneaks up on some of us. I vow not to make any promises this year to myself or you,my blog friends. This year I will just do my best and that is what we all want,isn't it? to do our best.

As I reflect on last year, there where many things undone. I failed to blog toward the end of the year. I have stressed out trying to be everything to everybody. You know...as women we are programed to think we can do it ALL. Did you know that it can make you SICK when you try to cram it all in. I was really sick and the doctor said most of it was brought on by stress. How can that be? I thought I was hiding it. I thought maybe if I push myself a little harder I can get everything done and be perfect. I have a husband, children, outside job, father, sister, dogs, trying to keep up with a house and a camp two hours away on the weekends, blog, facebook, you get the picture.

I always blogged as a journal for my children to look back on one day, but then when friends started reading that was a little good lagniappe. I LOVE all of the comments. Then I wanted to blog the perfect things, I did not want to disappoint. Oh and then there is my sister, I can't even try to compare to my sister. She is the best, I wanted to blog and have an Esty like hers'. But when could I ever find the time to keep up with her?

So after much thought I realize I need to blog. I miss sitting and just typing how I feel. It will be ok if I don't have anything to sell, or have numbers through the roof and it will be ok to complain about my imperfect world, because this is who I am. This is not my sisters' blog. I can't blog to fit in a certain group, because I love to many different things. Photography, sewing, crafting, decorating my home, cooking. I can tell you that I do pray, I am spiritual and am a very giving soul, but I am NOT perfect. I don't sit in the first pew every Sunday. Sometimes my blog is not going to be a rated 'G'. Sometimes I may want to type the word SHIT and do not want to feel censored.

Now having typed my long pre-New Years post, I hope you will join me in the New Year!(If I have not scared the SHIT out of you)

I have been stuck in IMAGINATION RUT lately... I blame it on no time, and that very well is a great excuse. But I spend HOURS looking at others imagination at work on all these blogs, esty,and yes, visiting peeps in Facebook. Yes I hate to admit it I am now addicted to Facebook. This is why I have not blogged. I come everyday and look at ya'lls but fail to post my own. IMAGINATION RUT.

No, I did not see any UFOs in Roundtop, well I did see a few things that I was unsure what in the world they were. But here are a few pics. of the great time I had. Susie did a great post on the trip so I don't want to bore you with the details.

I just loved this picture of this booth...so shabby chic..

This is a old sink, turned into a water feature. There is a pipe and little pump under the sink that keep the water moving...The table below I bought it to go in our cottage in Mississippi. It was from a school library in San Antonio. I will show you how it looks as soon as I bring it.

That arrangement on the table was so beautiful...but really was to big for our small place.

Blue, blue, everywhere...love the stuff, but Camo Man would not let me in the house if I brought home anymore dishes. Next best thing, take pictures of them.

Speaking of Blue. This is my son , blue from head to toe. It was homecoming week at his school. The school colors are Blue and Gold, so he wanted to be a Blue Man for the day..

He was smart enough to wait and paint his hands after he arrived at school.
If you ever need to be Blue...painters tape is an easy way to cover your shoes...

No we won't be riding a horse, at least I don't think so. You know I have been known to do some crazy (but legal) stuff on road trips.

Well, I might get sister to try on a hat or two. You know we have modeled BIG Easter hats in the middle of Macy's to embarrass our daughters (on a previous post).
Yes, I know it is a 7 hour drive. Yes, I know that I was gone all last weekend, but I really know how bad Susie wants to go. I will find any excuse to hit the road. I am so excited and can't wait to show ya'll all of our weekend adventures.
What can I say, I LOVE to travel and see new places.

How do they get the meringue that high. You can taste the little pieces of lemon zest. Ohhh it is so refreshing.
It was worth driving five hours, getting lost, spending $50.00 on a taxi (thats another story).

Children, We're Home

I am back home in the South. I could not resist showing you a few more pictures of a cute little shop that dad took me to visit in Port Angeles. I can almost promise you Susie will be making her version of this bird cage thingy next week.... Really like the look of the lamp on top of the shelf.

I could so kick my own butt for not buying those two baskets that are hanging on the wall. I am going to call her and see if I could get her to send them to me.

Isn't this little goat and cart just the cutest thing you have ever seen? I wanted him really bad, but did not even dare look at the price tag. (Besides I really have no place to keep him.)

This is the Seattle airport. The morning we left it was raining and foggy. We could not even see the runway. Was I scared? You know I was. All was ok, we got above the clouds very quickly and I was fine.

I loved Washington, if you ever get the chance to visit...GO.

Thanks dad for taking me to once again see the wonderful sites Washington has to offer. I really enjoyed our time together.

Thanks dad for teaching me to always try the unknown. I will never forget how PJ lake nearly killed me and that if a sign says 1/4 mile that it might not necessarily be true.

Thanks for teaching us how to cook fresh salmon, that was so yummy. I think that is my new favorite food!! You should be very proud, your place is looking great. I know you have put alot of time and hard work into your house. I love it there and can not wait to return.

Shopping In Sequim, WA

I am ready to do a little shopping. Can't go without my queen bee shirt and can you believe I got my thick hair done, even without my straight iron.

When dad decided to start spending his summers in Washington he chose a town called Sequim. It is the most charming place to spend a little time on vacation. The soaring Olympic Mountains grace the city’s southern border and the waters of the Strait of Juan de Fuca create a northern boundary. Sequim’s ideal weather is the envy of other coastal towns and all of Western Washington.

The town's lamp posts have the most colorful flower baskets I have ever seen.

Stop the car...Look at that rooster...he is at least five feet tall. He graces the front of Over The Fence. The really sweet ladies allowed me to take a few pictures in their shop.

They have a large selection of French Country decor. Click on the picture to see larger views.

I wish I had a place in my kitchen for the shelf that is holding the adorable red and white cups and plates.
Wish I had a cup of coffee to sip on while sitting at this little wooden table. Dad reminds me that I can't buy everything , I have to fly home. Don't guess that the table will fit in my carry on.

Pre de Provence lotions and soaps, I can not say enough about these luxury products. I have used the Verbena soaps. If you like creamy soaps , this would be your new favorite.

On to a Garden Center, I believe the name is Henry's. The weather is so beautiful, I could walk around here for hours.

I really want some of this brilliant blue pottery. Wonder if I could strap it to the top of the plane?
It is all on sale, what is better than that?

Well, I am getting a little pooped, how about a coffee? LOVE LOVE the coffee drive-thrus. In the south the drive-thrus are daiquiri shops. I think that when I return to my city I will show you around...Hope you like to see new places.

Sequim ... Lavender Capital of North America

Sequim is the Lavender Capital of North America. The festival is held every summer in July.
Lavender loves Sequim and we love it. The climate is similar to Provence, France, the Lavender capital of the world. It likes good draining soil and does not like to get it's feet wet (don't over water) which makes it a great drought tolerant plant. There are some fifty varieties of lavender growing in the Sequim-Dungeness Valley.

Lake Cresent, Forks and the Pacific

We are driving out to see the pacific ocean today. Come on lets go. We will make a few stops along the way. This is amazing Lake Crescent.
Words can not describe the view. We are driving on a very winding road and after a curve in the clearing there in front of you is this extraordinary lake. The morning sun shining down on the water looks like sapphires and emeralds. The road follows the edge of this lake for miles. Off in the distance you can see little cabins tucked in the woods. In my fantasy world, I envision a family reunion on this lake,us sitting by a fire at night watching the moonlight glisten on the water. Oh well on to the real world.

Not to worry in the real world we will stop at the end of the lake at the precious cabin store for a cup of coffee.

Here is a little surprise, we are going to stop in Forks,WA. For all you Twilight fans, we are passing thru the town where the book and movie where based on. (I visited here years ago, why didn't I write that darn book?)

As I told you before dad has to stop at every store along the way. Hold on we are stopping to pick up a few souvenirs at this great store. It has everything, groceries, clothes, dishes, hardware. It is what stores used to be before W.Mart. The cheerleaders of the local high school are selling hot dogs. Of course I just had to ask one of the girls if Twilight was the required summer reading. She laughed and politely said no. She was very grateful and said the fame of the books and movie have generated alot of revenue for the town.

There is even a shop that has a sign "Bella Shops Here". Forks even has tours for people wanting to see more local areas addressed in the books. Come on I've got more for you to see.

Ahh the ocean!! Sea fog is rolling in, but that is ok, it rolls in and out pretty fast. The sound of water just relaxes me after that exciting stop in Forks.

The beach here is not like our beaches in the south. A few things you won't find here, no beach chairs, umbrellas, and terrible sun burns. What I did find here were a few children with their parents digging for clams. Most of all I found found peace, you can defiantly find it here. Quiet,sunny with a little breeze just breath taking.

Plenty of places to sit and reflect. I am disappointed, I wanted to show you the starfish and little sea creatures native to this area, but it was in between tides.

I took this picture of my dad while I was sitting and pondering questions I have. (that is another post). As he walked along I thought about him. Looking at him I see a very strong, adventurous,positive, hard working man. I literally can not keep up with him. Let's see in the last seven years he has buried his youngest child, had rotator cuff surgery, double knee replacement, prostate cancer and had a divorce. I could do a whole blog on this man, but we are on vacation.

Hello Dad...Port Townsend

This is Port Townsend, WA. I am so tired from the walk around Bainbridge Island, I did not take to many pictures here. Port Townsend is where the movie 'An Officer and Gentleman' was made.

Meet my dad, he will take us on an adventure around northwest Washington. Here we are out on one of the many piers. I love to watch the sail boats, so peaceful. What is that smell? Oh of course the smell is the man in a van selling fresh hot bread. Do you know what we will be eating for breakfast?...NOT BREAD. We ate the whole thing before we got back to the truck...(AND I HAVE TO WONDER WHY I GAINED THREE POUNDS ?)
You will see I look for any wildlife to take pics. of. I think I am better at that, than people photo. That can be a post for you to judge later. Hi there little pigeon.

Good morning and HELLO SEATTLE... This is our agenda for the day. We are going downtown to catch a ferry to Bainbridge Island. There my dad will pick us up, this saves him about an hour in drive time.
I had this bright idea for us to ride the city bus to downtown. Do I know what bus to take? No!
I see people riding buses all the time on t.v. It just looks like the city thing to do. Luggage, no big deal it rolls. CRAZY IDEA !!! Heck there goes a bus, I am not going to scream for it to wait on us. (True southern ladies do not scream in public.) That is a picture of me waiting for the next one. There are many people on the bus, but I nabbed us a seat. Oh this luggage is a pain in the butt. People trying to get on and off. Also I love this picture, it shows me how bad that shirt looks on me. YUCK.

Look at that view. Oh and the weather is beautiful. Sunny and cool. Gosh we are so lucky, I 've always heard that it is dreary and raining here. This is the famous Pike Market. Thank goodness this is downhill with all of our luggage.

Wow, if I only had a way to get some of these fresh veggies and fruit back home with us.

Well, lets head over to the dock to catch the ferry.. Here is a little alley without too many people.

Oh my is that GUM on the wall? YES IT IS GUM!!! GROSS all over the wall.

No, I am not adding my gum to the walls. Do any of you have any idea why people do this? Feel free to share the reason behind it. Well after looking at it a moment, it really is not that bad. In fact it is quite colorful. Smell it, I am not gonna smell it ,would you smell it ?....

Got our ticket for the ferry. Hope you don't get sea sick.

The city is just beautiful from this view. The ferry's horn is so loud. Gettin chilly, have to put my sweater on, it is a little to breezy for this southern girl.

, Not a cloud in the sky. Can you see the Space Needle? Sorry just not enough time to get by and see it. Maybe next time.

Breathtaking... I could not even imagine living with these views everyday. I checked out the little real estate book, the houses in this area sell for one mill and upwards. (Coldwell Banker).

Dad has gotten tied up in traffic, so we can walk around the little town of Winslow. How about some ice cream? This looks like a great place to sit and try their special today, Lavender Ice Cream. Ice Cream sure makes up for this crappy shirt I am wearing. This has nothing to do with a trip to Seattle, but dressing room mirrors lie. Before you go somewhere, take a picture and see what the outfit looks like..LOL

I can not go to any town and not look for fabric. I found this great shop called Esther's Fabrics.

They have been keeping Bainbridge Island sewing since 1959.

These little bunnies are so cute. The shops web address is http://esthersfabrics.com/ . I love the the little cart with fabric. Her shop has such a great selection. Ribbons, buttons, and lots of patterns.

Oh Yeah We Have Arrived....

We are on our way to my dad's place in Washington state for a visit. I missed him, so I got two tickets to go and visit. Don't worry if you forgot something, you will see dad stops at every store, large or small. We have a week just filled with adventure...You don't want to miss a minute of it.
The drive to the New Orleans airport is nice. I know Mr.Wiz (my 16yr. old son) drives fast so hold on. "Love you be good while I'm gone", had to yell that to him as he drives off.

Little bumpy flight, but we arrive in Phoenix for a two hour lay over.

I ate a egg roll and had a Bud Lime Light in the bar. Yeah, I get a little nervous. I really am not a drinker.

Ok, we are back up in the sky.

Hurry !!! Look out the window, that is Mount Baker. Oh my gosh is that just beautiful?

Now on to Seattle, arrived actually twenty five minutes ahead of time. GO SOUTHWEST...

This lobby is so cool, I really could just sit here and watch people come and go. You know they say you really get to know someone when you go on a trip with them. Hope you are still with me here.

I only wish it would have been cold enough for a big roaring fire and a cup of Star Bucks. Don't fret we will get that Star Bucks.

Warning I have no schedule,nor do I know exactly where I am going.. Ready for a mini vacation with me? I have not even started packing, but it is ok, you can enjoy this trip in your jammies with no makeup. Also you won't need to bring your purse (wallet if you are a male reader).

Goodbye Mr. Stained Carpet, Hello Mr. Hickory Wood

Out with the carpet, in with the wood and goodness knows it was not soon enough.

That carpet had done its job. It gave warmth on many Christmas mornings while the kids opened their presents. It was a place to sit after my brothers funeral and ALL his friends came to share sweet memories, cry, laugh and sing his favorite songs.

Gosh I bet you will never look at your carpet the same...LOL.

The floor is a glue down tongue and groove by Anderson. I needed a wood that would blend with all the other wood trim in the house. It was a little pricey, so I tried to find something comparable at Lowes and Home Depot, but no luck I had to get the one at the local flooring store, but no regrets , I LOVE IT.

Don't you agree it blends really great? You can see by the pictures, the floor had to blend with white baseboards, the entertainment center and two dark cherry book cases in the library.

But there is a clean wood floor ready to share our next fifteen years of memories. Now, I just need to find some new chairs and rugs to bestow upon it.

Also thanks to everyone who gave great advice on how to keep my new floor looking great and free of all those multiplying dust bunnies.

Bath and Body Works

Bath and Body is having a hand soap sale. I looove their hand soaps and have one at every sink in the house and camp. My favorite is the Kitchen Lemon. In the south we cook with tons of onions and of course we have to eat our seafood, and this takes that smell right off.

My favorite is the Kitchen Lemon with the little beads.

The newest is Fresh Lime Basil, I picked it up last night, so I can't wait to give it a try. Can you think of a better reason to boil some shrimp? giggle.... These also make the best little thought gifts. I give them at work if I need just a little gift, teacher gifts....for this price I pick up extras.

On a serious note, I am not sure where you may live, but our state has had its first Swine Flu death (she was 21 years old, really scary), with children going back to school , please remind them to WASH their hands....They might even wash more if you get the foaming kind....

I was not or will not get paid for this post....just sharing...giggle..

Weekend in Review

The weekend in review is just a few pictures that I took this weekend. I had wanted to post about my new flooring, but could not get the pictures to download, so now you get to hear about my weekend.
Camo Man and I went to the camp. While he took care of mowing the grass I rode around in the woods. In the first photo look to the left there is a little spider on the flower. In the photo below he had ran off...that was fine with me.

It is so relaxing to just ride around on the trails. Well except when you run into those pesky spiders. Max loves riding with me. He likes to get get off and get a drink in the little creek at the very back of our property. Notice the trees in the background, those fell during the last hurricane.

We went to the rodeo on Saturday night in the small town by our camp. Even though we did not know a soul there it is just so "All-American".

The bull riding always makes me so nervous, and these boys are not even mine.

Hope your weekend was relaxing or at least rewarding in some small way...

Let the Light Show Begin

No, you have not stumbled on vacation pictures of the light show at Disney. Although at times I thought I was living in a Mickey cartoon, not the castle we all want to have. Lighting plays a very important part of your decor. Man, I am starting to sound like a designer,NOT. Then again I am sure you have read all that blah,blah,blah on other blogs. I know ya'll just want to see the pictures and hear the drama.

Before photo is not too great, I am sure that I have a better photo somewhere.
This is the dining area. I had a light that I ordered from JC Penny's fifteen years ago. It was a cut Tiffany style glass fixture.

This is Camo Man and a friend of ours hanging the new light. It is so blurry, I snapped it fast cause Camo Man was fussin about me putting down the camera and helping. He is not a blogland fan. Am I the only one whos husband sighs this hugh sigh when he walks in and I am on the computer?

Below is the light above our island. Here is the drama, actually I hope this helps someone out. When you get to this point of a remodel you are fed up with each other and want to put the house on the market "AS IS". Our old light was a box light with the long florescent lights. Well I wanted to pull that down and put a light with pot hangers or some really cool pendant lights. No one told me the new light weighed over seventy five pounds and there was no stud in the ceiling where it needed to hang. So Camo Man came up with the idea to leave the wooden light box and enclose it with matching boards. This would make it sturdy enough to hold my fabulous new light. After I shed a few tears, I agreed. I told him I did not want it to look like a we had to do a fixer upper. He assured me it would look great. Gosh, he was RIGHT. It looks as though it was made to be hung that way. Even his mom said how wonderful it looked, she thought he built the whole light box. She did not realize that was the same box that had hung there for fifteen years.

The kitchen is now bright, sorry no fireworks here.
I love my new lighting. It has the look of French Country.

This is the light above the dining table. It took me a few days to get used to it instead of the Tiffany light. This one is so much heavier looking.

It is very hard to take photos of lighting. It is too bright with the light on and dark with it off. But stay tuned, hopefully you will see them better in photos of the whole kitchen. WOW, I am starting to feel a little like Cinderella ......

We're Cookin Now...Well Maybe

Can you remember when the kitchen looked like this?... it really wasn't that bad now looking back over everything we have been through. My white gas stove was great. But in one of my few cleaning moods, I sprayed oven cleaner on the front by the knobs. Warning I don't know what is in that stuff, but it WILL chomp thru paint. Hey I just realized for all you crafters maybe you could use it as a paint remover for metal...(just a thought). The old vent hood was actually new. Camo Man said it had to go. I found it a home, next door with Grannie. Hers did not have lights and she needed a stronger one for all that chicken she fries.

This is Camo Man and Main Man (Susie's /http://susieharris.blogspot.com/ better half) installing the vent pipe for the hood. Mr. Appliance Man told us that if we have an industrial stove you have to have a vent that can handle the heat and vents out of the house.
Camo Man thought he could just cut a hole right thru the ceiling and roof. It did not take long for him to realize that our sons' bathroom is right above (heehee). So he headed thru the cabinet and out to the porch. I was not happy about that, but I try to pick the battles that I really want to win. (Newly weds remember this advice. Of course not now cause you are still honeymoonin, but trust me and thank me, one day you will pick your battles.) Now back to the kitchen.

All stainless, shiny and new. The stove is a five burner DCS. I LOVE the oven racks, they just roll right out.

I am not quite sure if I am ready to yuck it up yet. I am hoping Camo Man will finish the out summer cooking on the grill or better get take out....Oh yeah, now where did I put those menus??

Where's the fork?

If you have five minutes, you can make this dessert that looks like it took all afternoon. I had a few friends over friday night and needed a quick dessert. All I needed to do was pick up an Angel food cake, cool whip, pudding and blueberries. I mixed the pudding with milk and folded in a little whipped topping. I then cut the cake in half, dolloped the pudding on, then replaced the top of the cake. Dollop on more pudding and blueberries. I wanted to add strawberries, but the ones at the store did not look to pretty. Whala you have a dessert that looks and tastes great. When I pulled it out everyone was amazed.

Hot Christmas in July

Christmas in July, you say it is too early and way to hot. Well you are right, but I have to tell you, yesterday on my way to work I pulled out a cd without looking (I do that sometimes). Low and behold it was Jazzy Christmas Music. I turned the car ac down to 60 degrees and actually enjoyed listening. It had me thinking, for us crafters its time to get jiggy with it.

When I got home yesterday I went to visit a few blog friends. I admire bloggers who take the time to teach a craft. They put so much time in the photos and giving directions (to those that take time to post tutorials "May you forever be blessed with front row parking at the local craft joints").

I could not believe what I saw. I found Christmas at the blog of some great friends. If you are in the Christmas in July mood you have to go over and visit my friends at Roots and Wings. They are two crafty sisters, Rebecca and Anjeanette, along with their craftey sister in law, Katrina. If you have ever wanted to make a advent calendar and did not know where to start just drop over a take a look at all the different ones. (I would show you a picture, but their work is copyrighted and I have not asked permission) They show you in great detail how to make for your family. Oh and I almost forgot to tell you about the cool Christmas garland chain they show you how to make. This idea can be used in so many ways, but you have to see it for yourself....let me know what you think...

Closet/Me Makeover

This photo got your attention but don't get too excited, this is not the remodel of my closet...but my closet will look like this in my next house.

For years I lived in a very small trailer with a very small closet. Everything was in that closet, you know the kind with a sliding door and a pipe across the length of it. The ceiling was like 6 foot tall so when I would hang any long items you could not see the floor. I felt like a little possum scouring looking for my shoes under all the clothes. In a trailer you do not have an attic. So guess where the Christmas tree and outgrown baby items where stored? You got it ...my closet.

I felt like a queen when we moved into our house. I thought that closet was huge. The greatest thing was I did not have to share it with Mr. Christmas tree, or the vacuum cleaner, or the 1988 highchair.

Actually in this photo I had already started taking stuff out.

Camo Man hates sharing with me. He is so organized and everything in a place. But now I wear scrubs to work and I am not really a clothing shopper. I hear all you shoppers gasping for air.

It is ok, I have come to terms with it. (After gaining weight, I would rather buy house stuff and of course fabric than clothes). If there is anyone out there like me, please leave me a comment, it gets lonely not going to the mall.

Well it is time to clean out and organize before Camo Man puts it all on the front lawn. He really is a patient man.

Who wants to dress after wearing scrubs all week? On the weekend I tend to grab a t-shirt and old shorts. I never really dress nice. Then if I run an errand I feel frumpy.

And boy you won't admit it but thats when you see everybody that you graduated with or worked with at a past job. The worst is when you see the guy you dated a hundred years ago with his cute little fabulous young wife. Then I ask my self "Why didn't I just take five minutes and put on something cute???". (I'd be perfect for that What Not To Wear show).
Solution for me, I put all the t-shirts and shorts in the dresser drawer. Only my nicer clothes are hanging. As you can see I don't have that many.

Yes, that is a pair of bee slippers on the self.

This way I am hoping that I will think twice before I just grab something. Last weekend I got dressed to go out. It made me feel so good when my sis in-law wanted to know why I was dressed up. She even wanted to know if I lost weight. What motivation me not to just grab something other than a t-shirt and tennis shoes. I think I will clean out the closet more often and maybe throw in a little shopping trip.

Welcome Home Little World Traveler

Yes, after many prayers and worrying, Brattany has made it back to the good ole USA. While I and my blog friends (thank you) were here praying she was having the time of her life.

I do believe the travel bug has bitten. On the plane ride home she was planning her next adventure.
Oh to be young and have the world in your hands...

When she arrived home Bratt informed me that her teacher will be offering a Creative Writing class next summer. She let the teacher know her mom would be attending. I told Bratt that would be GREAT, but I only get a two week vacation and who would be paying for my adventure???
Oh to be young and not have any bills...

She has some really great photos, I am trying to get her to be a guest blogger for the day...

Well I am on my vacation from work this week, but not to be the world traveler. Not really a traveler at all unless you count hiking to the coffee pot, joggin to washing machine, climbing the great orange ladder to put books on the bookshelves. I am home to do the much needed cleaning and organization of the house even though the remodel is still not complete.

Oh too be old and have so much shit to do...

But of course it is 2:15 pm I am in my pjs and have not gotten much done. Lets see if that cafe on the counter top is still open for another cup of hot coffee.(giggle)

QUICKIE...

Are you looking for baby dust bunnies? I think they thrive on hardwood floors, and of course they love it under the bed. (Yeah finally got the china outta there). I started with only a few and those little babies multiplied literally over night, now I have hundreds of them.

I need your help! How can I get rid of them in a safe and easy manner?? Now that the china and carpet are gone I bought a QUICKIE, no I am not joking. Camo Man loves it. But here is where I need your help. Do I need a spray on this QUCIKIE? What kind would be best.

I LOVE these floors but want to care for them properly. Dust bunnies have to go, Camo Man has bad sinus allergies and I could not see the dust on the carpet. I heard that hardwood floors were better for people with allergies....Please feel free to leave comments on how to rid floors of dust bunnies...and I promise to do it in a humane way... HUMM maybe I need more than a QUICKY...maybe one of those Swiffer things or a yarnie mop thingie , open for suggestions.

Also Bratney will be coming home tonight. Her flight from Chicago was canceled so she had to stay there overnight... Hope to post some of her pictures for ya'll.

I was kinda scared that I was pushing my dreams of world travel on my children, but she reassured me that she does not feel that way at all.

DADDYS LITTLE GIRL this picture would pop up. (Not really). She really is just the daughter every parent dreams of. Although thinking back she was also the typical Terrible Three. (When she was three she rubbed Vaseline all over the walls in the hallway when I was on the phone.) Of course her daddy said "Were you not watching her?"

My first born is jetting off to Italy. It makes me so proud that my children are getting to be world travelers. My dream has always been to travel to Europe. Well what would the next best thing be? Let my children experience it. (My son went to Europe in eight grade as a People to People ambassador.)
She worked very long hours as an assistant manager at 'Justice Just for Girls' while maintaining a full time student schedule. She has managed to pay for her entire trip by herself. This semester she has been named to the Presidents List at the university. But as Susie mentioned in her blog, our family has been so blessed that her boyfriend is such an important part of our family. So we are hoping that he hangs around the house even though she will be across the world.. I do need my blog friends to say a little prayer for her while she is gone. I was not nervous until today when I opened the USA Today and the front page was The Dangers of Study Abroad. Now that I have prayers...I can rest easy and know I have done all I can.

Bratnie (not her real name)... know that I am so proud of you and I want you to learn everything you can while you are there. And don't forget to mind your southern girl manners, try food you normally wouldn't and take tons of pictures(for my blog friends). Oh yeah you can bring me back a some great Italian fabric !!!

Welcome Home Mr. Rooster

Isn't my rooster just what I need to have a french country kitchen?
I just LOVE him. I was not to sure about him, he was a budget buster. I told Camo Man that he needed a home so bad. I think he let me get him cause he felt sorry for all the counter top crap I am going through. He is silver with a black antique finish on top, I can't seem to get a good picture of him.

OH, and yes that is orange mean machine you see in the pic. below. It is still floating around my house. Camo Man is finished painting. I will post a before and after of that soon. Still no appliances...or sink ...but actually I am getting used to this life. Sorry about the wining before...you know I think that I was in remodel shock at first.

We added a little porcelain tile.. they still have to add the grout and wipe.

Max wanted to see what I was doing... In the picture below he reminded me of that show Tim Allen had where his neighbor only showed half his face over a fence. Do you remember the name of that show? I can't right now..

Now we are on the hunt for hard wood flooring to put in the living room, study and bedroom. The decisions to be made... Then the money pitt just got bigger. Camo Man has to now buy shoe molding that I did not plan on. Did not realize you don't have shoe molding with carpet. Do you think I am gonna remember how to cook? I can't believe I am typing this, I DO miss cooking and having everyone around the table to fight...(oh I mean discuss the days activities).

I had to go this morning to the bank that is located in our local Walmart. I don't go there but maybe once a month or so.
Well today I fell off the wagon. For those of you that don't know , I am not allowed near ANY fabric departments. I have an addiction to it. Have tons of the stuff. I am starting a local Fabricholic Anonymous Group.

What happened next really is not my fault. Walmart is closing the department. ALL fabric is 80% OFF....There was not much left, but I could not stop myself. Look at what I got....

Love this bright rooster fabric. I bought what was left on the bolt.
Won't this make the cutest aprons, place mats , table runner, the ideas are endless...

Even though the department was picked over there must have been about ten ladies. We all stood and talked while waiting to get our bargains cut. You know you are an addict when you are checking out their buggy to see what they snatched up. I even tried to listen to their conversations to get ideas.

I did find my mean girl side of me today, and yes I felt bad for whole minute ...this trim was marked to .40 cents a yard. The lady cutting fabric could not believe how cheap when she scanned it . She said she wanted some. I told her sorry, don't take the plastic off, I want ALL 12 yards. She gave me a ugly look. But when you are addicted you could care less what looks you get.

This is some cute flannel...don't know what I'm gonna do with it, but had to have it.

Got 2 yards of each of these. The lady behind me wanted what was left. She is going to make pillow cases and boxers for her grandsons. I know now I need to get busy making stuff with all this. It really is not a bargain unless I use it. If I could have just walked past and looked the other way....Well I did not pay full price for any of it, I know it is a poor excuse when you are a FAG (Fabricholic Anonymous Girl).

Holy Cow...They Swim

A couple of months ago I spotted these cows swimming to get back to their barn. It had been raining for a couple days and everything was flooded. We were in a hurry to get back home, but Camo Man turned the truck around so I could get some pictures.
Look closely can you see the little baby calf? (Click on picture for a closer look)
I wanted to jump out the truck and help the little guy, of course Camo Man said NO.
Really it is a good thing I have him to help me think clearly cause I surely would have took off across that pasture. Did I mention there was a bull and I can barely swim to save myself much less a calf....

We sat about fifteen mins. on side of the road watching them. Sometimes its just good for the soul to just pull over and enjoy an unexpected moment in life.

Just an update the kitchen is moving along. I found the answer to my problem.
Seems Mr. Owner and I belong to the same high school alumni internet site. I know he would not want pictures of his work posted on there!! Mr. Owner sent someone over to work on my counter tops. The island turned out GREAT. The rest passed my inspection. Tomorrow they will be back to install the sink. Susie will be here, I can't miss work. But those of you that know her, know she is gonna make sure it is done perfect. Thanks in advance Susie, I owe ya....

Countertop Catastrophe Continuation

Thanks for all the support. I can not even express how great it is to come home from work and read all of the wonderful words of encouragement. I so wish that when my makeover was finished ya'll all could come over for a huge party!!!

To keep ya'll up on the kitchen drama. The installer arrived before the owner of the shop. I told him that I was not upset about his installation. He stood there and admitted that when he and his helper loaded the granite on the truck he asked Mr. Owner to look at the piece in question. Mr. Owner told him to "Go with it" .

The Installer was upset and told me, "Between you and me, I would not accept it. "

Girls, I said an not nice word that rhymes with ******oh never mind Iwill spare ya the nasty language. Before I could say or ask anything else of Installer, Mr. Owner walked in.
In my life I have learned that if someone is upset you just listen, they can not argue if the other person is not responding. Well I be doggone, Mr. Owner took the same life lesson as me...

He said in a real cool, calm voice 'What do you need me to fix?'

After showing him the problem area, still being calm as a cucumber, he let me know there is no more granite like mine on lot. He has no plans on getting anymore. He is going to send someone over to buff it out...Did not know you can buff out a crack.
Lets see that was Monday morning, it is now Tuesday night...wonder when he will be back? Maybe I should give him a little buzz in the morning. Yeah, I am quickly finding the assertive girl in me.

Just in case you are wondering if Camo Man left me and headed for the woods. Well, yes he still lives here...lets just say you learn alot about your spouse even after 22 years.

Lets look at the positive...Grannie fried us chicken and mac n cheese for supper tonight. Nothing like a little comfort food. Doesn't her chicken look YUMMY? One day I am gonna do a post and pictures on how she makes the best fried chicken in the south.

I am sitting on a little chair in the corner of my bedroom. I feel like I could throw up. I just need to type out my feelings. So please this will be a blah blah blog post. Please stop reading if you like me.
I have to tell the marble guy to rip up the counters and replace them, they are unacceptable.
Why does confrontation make me ill. In high school I would let anyone who got in my way have it, Now I can't even stand up for something I have had to work very hard to pay for (cash at that).
The guy is bigger than me? No that is not the reason. Is it that I have not had to be ugly in so long that I have forget how? Do you just become a softie? Can it be I have learned to just settle? Maybe I need professional help. I always use the excuse that " Being ugly won't make the world better." Well it might make my kitchen look better.
When I built the house I had to settle with the first counter tops, and the crappy excuses. Now I feel like I am reliving that experience.
The difference I have now is it makes me sick, really IBS, chest pains
WHY WHY. I hate being nice!! Why can't I be a mean girl . I really don't care what people think. Now my palms are sweating. I wish he would be here already.
OMG, I just saw something out the corner of my eye looking in the window at me, a squirrel. Oh how cute. Now how can I pump myself up to be a B after seeing that? AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO HAS TROUBLE BEING MEAN WHEN I NEED TO BE???

No Inspiration

No Inspiration Friday ... While at a seminar for work I noticed after lunch that I had six missed calls from my daughter. I excused my self to go and call her. She informed me that a classmate from high school had passed away. She was so up set I hurried home. This was a boy who had been in her class since second grade. She adored him. His parents only have him and his sister, she is graduating from high school this month. They are a very close family. You know there are some children that you NEVER see the parents, but both of his parents were at every school event, football games, field trips. My heart is just breaking for them. Two other teenagers passed away that were very close to my daughter in the last 8 months, now this. She is also trying to write a ten page/three thousand word essay for a final in an education class. She also needs me to edit that for her.

So I hope you understand, I always search for the perfect thing to post on Fridays, but I just don't feel up to it....Maybe next week I will have new pictures of the remodel, have a great weekend everyone and please pray for his family.
