A little spring for $1.25

The weekend after Christmas I went to Wal Mart to see if there was anything left in the clearance Christmas section. I found these little paper white bulbs for $1.25. Even thought the season was over I could not just leave them on that cold lonely shelf with leftover twinkle lights and the five foot white trees no one wanted. I am sad to say I saved them from that lonely shelf to only leave them in the trunk of my car for another week. After saving them a second time, I could not put them in that ugly plastic green pot. They had be so miss treated.
I planted them in this really pretty pot that I had gotten at Lows. Look how pretty. But of course with every pretty thing, there comes a little stink. When I got home from work yesterday my son met me at the back door. He wanted me to smell something that was stinkin up the kitchen. I smelled it and right away knew it was my paper whites. He wanted me to throw them outside. This is terrible but I made him live with the strong odor until I could take some pics. to share with ya'll. Those poor little bulbs did not look like they would make it at first. But they started to thrive the kitchen window.

Guess tomorrow they will just have to head out to the back porch.

I've never smelled them before, but it doesn't sound appetizing. I've got some tulips that are growing and will hopefully bloom for Valentine's day.

Oh my gosh. I bought the same paper whites in the Christmas box from Walmert!!! And my husband kept complaining about something stinking up the kitchen, and it was the flowers! That is so crazy! LOL...they smell like medicine! And they grow SUPER fast!

I've never had paper whites, do they smell bad? It's kind of like you can't judge a book by its cover. I don't think I'll be getting any of these.

They are so pretty! It is too bad that they had to go. If they wouldn't have stunk, could you have saved the bulbs to use again next year?

So funy...we think alike. I bought paper whites a few days before Christmas. They actually bloomed just a few days afterwards.
I had them sitting on kitchen table and of course, the odor soon emerged. Jack and Justin couldn' figure out where the smell was coming from. I knew if I told them they would make me throw them out or move them. I didn;'t realize they had such a stench when I purchased them. Now I know.

Ah, they are lovely - and I love the flower pot, too...So pretty! I'm sorry they were so stinky. I would have never imagined that from such a beautiful flower!
